Pastimes CIC is looking at preventing older adults due to social isolation, ill health and dementia a place to feel and be safer during the day whilst their family or carer can go to ‘work ‘do ‘shopping’ without worrying about the person at home is ok this would be supporting them to carry on caring for the person longer in their own home delaying admission to permanent residential care
We aim to support older adults to continue to take an active part in the community and remain living independently with dignity and respect WHILE DELAYING THE NEED TO enter into residential care on a permanent bases. As Pastime is a Community Initiative Company which is a not for profit company all profits will be put back into the service to ensure better value for money and continued professional development of our staff, As well as new initiatives though staff training in a variety of ways to assist the older adult with dementia frailty and isolation .
Pastime CIC will help supplement the exciting service of home care CPN’s to ensure that the person is living independently for longer in the community.
We will be having a variety of activates to enhance/maintain mental, physical and social abilities.
By using board games and quiz this help keeps the mind stimulated. Memory games, reminiscing
Focusing on the positives, on things the members can do, not on what they can’t do
By using and stimulating the mind this may slow the progress off the dementia.
Physical exercise to assist with mobility, strengthen muscles, music to reminisce and exercise. To keep mobile and independent for as long as possible
Social interacting with peers at the group and assist to form friendship groups outside the centre. Forming friendship outside the group will boost their confidence and more willingness to venture out to met up or visits each other, supporting each other as well
We aim to build strong working links with other centres and local GPs CPN’s and council service to ensure we are meeting the needs of the person.
We will be assisting with enablement and rehabilitation for those who are social isolated. The Aim is for older adults to gain confidence and peer friendship to gain independence, and then following an exit review to continue independently having forged Peer Friendships, and connexions with other local agencies that we have strong working links to support them once they leave the care of Pastimes CIC.
