What is Cranio-Sacral Therapy?
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is an extremely gentle form of holistic healing therapy, that doesn't envolve any manipulation, therefore it's safe and suitable for all ages, from new-born babies to the elderly.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy involves light hand contacts to ‘listen’ to the natural tissue and fluid rhythms, promoting the ability of the body to heal itself.
The treatments work on a deep and powerful level with the anatomy and physiology of the body.
For a revitalising and health boosting experience
For emotionally linked or stress-based body issues
For painful conditions or sports injuries
For a gentle and holistic approach
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a holistic healing practice that uses very light touches to balance the craniosacral system in the body. This includes the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area. Cranio-sacral therapy addresses the cranio-sacral system, both physical and psychological. This system includes the cranium, spine, and sacrum that are connected by a continuous membrane of connective tissue deep inside the body.
TREATMENT SESSION
A craniosacral session generally lasts 30–60 minutes. The session begins with a discussion of a client’s health issues and the completion of a medical history form. Once the form has been completed, the client remains fully clothed and lies down on a massage couch while the therapist uses light contacts and may work from any part of the body, guided by your own personal requirements. The contact is gentle, non-invasive and the client is supported to feel at ease throughout the session.
REBALANCE
Most clients find sessions pleasant and relaxing, however sometimes you may feel some discomfort as the system finds emotional and physical release. You may feel tingling sensations and a sense of feeling rebalanced or unblocked.
Here are just a few examples of the many conditions which might benefit from Cranio-Sacral treatment:
Headache, Frozen Shoulder, Arthritis, Sciatica, Chronic Sprained Ankle, Joint Disorders, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), Digestive Problems, Menstrual Disorders, Period Pains. Back & Neck Pain, Tension, Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia, Migraine, Asthma, Sinusitis, Bronchitis, Cystitis,Birth Trauma, Compression of the skull due to a difficult birth, Shock and Trauma – from traumatic incidents, accidents, or conditionings, Head Injuries, and their subtle influence on personality and mental state.
Craniosacral Therapy with Babies & Children
One of the joys of treating babies and children is that they tend to respond so well to treatment. Even in the most natural and problem-free births, pressure of the baby's head on the mothers pelvic floor during contractions can create compressions at the base of the skull, which can in turn affect the spine and pelvis.
As a result of the contractions and passage through the pelvis and the birth canal, babies get very compressed during birth and this can displace things in their bodies. The relatively soft bones of the head move during birth but don’t always return to an optimal position, leading to a variety of difficult conditions
Many infant problems like colic, sucking problems, breathing difficulties, restlessness and irritability, may result from Cranio-Sacral imbalances caused by compressive forces during childbirth. Examination of infants for Cranio-Sacral imbalances may be helpful in preventing problems later in life and is highly recommended.
Caesarean births and those involving forceps or suction are more likely to lead to symptoms. These are often immediately obvious but sometimes don’t develop until later on. Craniosacral therapy can be beneficial to all babies including those who have had problem-free births.
Babies can’t speak but that doesn’t mean you can’t communicate with them. Parents often understand a baby’s non-verbal communication. The therapist’s appreciation of what things are like for babies plays a big part in the treatment. CST is effective for both children and adolescents.
What happens at birth can be a factor in some adult physical and psychological conditions. Treatment of young children may be helpful preventively. Health problems in adults which are linked to their birth or very early experience may be addressed. All craniosacral therapists work with symptoms related to birth and some have developed this into a speciality.
CST Treatments in your home (or workplace)
CST Treatments in your home (or workplace) It may not suit everybody to travel to Welwyn Garden City or Codicote, have a treatment and then travel back home again.
It may suit you better to be treated in the comfort of your own home, or even at your work place.
There are many advantages; certainly that you save the travelling times and what's more, you may have no need to travel home after the treatment - you can either just relax or get on with something else.
Prices for home treatments
I charge a call-out fee in addition to the £55 for each hour of treatment time.
This call-out fee depends on the length of the journey from my place to your place. As a guide, in and around Welwyn Garden City that would be £30 - that's about 30 minutes away. Further afield in for instance Hitchen or Harpenden, it would be £40
Assuming a one hour treatment for each person, here's a couple of examples which I hope helps to make it clearer:
Treating three people around Welwyn Garden City would be £195 ( £30 + £55+ £55+ £55)
And, treating two people in Harpenden would be £150 ( £40 + £55 + £55)
Another possibility you may like to ring me about are treatments in the work place. If you have a suitable room for treatments then I can provide your employees with a wonderfully effective de-stressing CST treatment which could be as short as twenty minutes.
