Graduate Foundry Technician
Permanent role based in Sheffield.
salary is up to £25000 p/a.
The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, 7:45am – 4:00pm
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a technically competent material scientist, preferably a metallurgist, to join the countries only fully integrated heavy manufacturing company.
The primary function of the role will be to work with and be mentored by experienced metallurgists and technologists in all technical aspects of steel casting manufacture including :
The specifics of casting metallurgy
Chemistry control
Heat treatment
Mechanical testing
Welding
A broadening of knowledge in foundry practices and technology.
Other duties will include a significant amount of hands on involvement in the production environment and in the casting of liquid steel whilst working safely at all times. Candidates will be expected to do any other duties commensurate with the job role
The role involves a demonstration of competence and capability which will be rewarded with early assignments of responsibility and career development.
To be considered for the position candidates should have the following:
Relevant degree qualification
Demonstrate technical understanding in the relevant disciplines
Willingness to learn new skills, work hard and further their knowledge
Computer literate
Good communication skills
Ability to prioritise tasks with others
It is also desirable that candidates show a capability to be self-motivated and the ability to take on responsibility
