Foundry Technican
Permanent role based in Sheffield.
The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week
Salary is up to £35000 p/a.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Welding Engineer/Metallurgist as a Foundry Technician in the Foundry.
Day to day operations will cover:
The supervision of casting, taking temperatures from ladles, controlling ladle additions and having full technical responsibility during ladle processing and teeming
Technical responsibility for specific contracts. Technical contract review, understanding specifications and producing well defined procedures for the technical disciplines of:
Quality planning
Heat treatment
Mechanical testing
Weld procedures
Weld procedure qualification requirements
Weldability requirements
The procurement of welding consumables
Responsibility for the management of the handling, storage and issuing of welding consumables. The welding supervisor will work under the successful candidate’s direction.
Responsibility for welder qualification tests and maintenance of qualifications and the active control of weld procedures and allocation of properly qualified welders to individual materials and welding scenarios
Understanding and compliance of Health and Safety regulations
Any other duties commensurate with the job role
Please note: castings are poured on a 5 day 24 hours melting schedule and some out of normal hours working can be expected.
The ideal Person
In order for candidates to be considered for the role candidates should have the following:
Proven technical capability through academic qualification in metallurgy or material science
Skilled in the field of welding
Skilled as a welding engineer and metallurgist
Good organisational skills
Awareness of Health and safety in the workplace
Computer literate and able to demonstrate by example a high quality of report writing
Conversant with industry standards for welding
It is also desirable that candidates will have:
Previous experience in a steel foundry
Conversant with Nuclear standards ASME IX / RCCM
Experience in a supervisory role
